Day 1: Baked Custard
Ingredients:
4 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
Nutmeg
As you will notice, we had a slight problem with this recipe...not the best sign for the first day, but guess what? WE WILL OVERCOME!!!! At any rate, this was a fun first project. Like we said in the video though, here are some helpful tips:
- Make sure the oven is fully preheated so that the custard doesn't just sit in the boiling water while you are waiting for the oven to reach 325F
- Make sure you have the right size of custard containing dishes. Perhaps the reason our custard took so long to bake was because the dish was too thick
- Give yourself enough time in case it takes longer to bake than the recipe says
